How to Find Lost Android Phone without Tracker App Installed

People nowadays find so much convenience in their phones as everything important is in there. From photos that captured memories, to important dates and tasks to finish.

Sure you can’t afford to lose all these important information, data and photographs.

But what if your Android phone was stolen all of a sudden or you forgot it somewhere you can’t remember where, and worst, you haven’t installed a recovery app in it?

How tragic could that be?

Well, the good news is you actually have the chance of recovering it. Listed below are 2 method using which you can find your lost Android smartphone.

How to Find Lost Android Phone?

a. Track your lost Android device with Google’s Android Device Manager

How to Find Lost Android PhoneThere are several requirements for this though:

  • Your device is connected with your Google account
  • Your device has access to the internet
  • Allowed Android Device Manager (ADM) to locate your device (turned on by default). This can changed in the Google Settings app
  • Allowed ADM to lock your device and erase its data (turned off by default).

Google has this cool Android Device Manager (ADM) feature that lets your track your Android phone or tablet.

Although you don’t need to install an app to your device, the important prerequisite is that your phone should be online and connected to your Google account.

You can borrow a phone and sign in as a guest and your Google account details. It should now allow you to track your device, ring it and wipe its data.

Now if your device was stolen and the thief has possibly disconnected it from Google and when that happens that’s the end of it.

b. Another way is to remote control and track your smartphone with Android Lost

Although the requirements are still quite the same and limited as our previous method.

Your device is connected with your Google account and of course it has access to the internet.

Step 1: Install Android Lost remotely

You can do it via Google Play but you have to remember that your lost phone has to be connected to your Google account. This is the only way that this can work.

Step 2: Activate Android Lost

Imagine what this app can do for you: read sent and received SMS messages, wipe phone, lock phone, erase SD card, locate by GPS or network, start alarm with flashing screen. You can remotely register your device by sending and sms “androidlost register” to your lost phone.

Step 3: Log in to the Android Lost website

In the Android Lost website, log in with your Google account.

If you’re able to do this, then you should already be able to have access to the features mentioned above including using the camera to take picture of whoever is in the possession of your lost device.

You can also use Google Maps Location History to track your lost Android phone by clicking on the “show time stamps” so you will be able to check out the location your device has registered.

Your last resort would be Dropbox. But first it has to be already installed in your phone. Every time the “thief” takes a photo, it automatically uploads to your Dropbox account.
